Henry William Frederick Albert Windsor, 1st Duke of Gloucester was the son of George V Frederick Ernest Albert Windsor, King of the United Kingdom and Mary Prinzessin von Teck.2 He was born on 31 March 1900 at York Cottage, Sandringham, Norfolk, England.1 He married Lady Alice Christabel Montagu-Douglas-Scott, daughter of John Charles Montagu-Douglas-Scott, 9th Duke of Queensberry and Lady Margaret Alice Bridgeman, on 6 November 1935 at Buckingham Palace, St. James's, London, England.1 He died on 10 June 1974 at age 74 at Barnwell Manor, Barnwell, Northamptonshire, England.1 He was buried at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England.3

He was a member of the House of Wettin. He gained the title of HRH Prince Henry of the United Kingdom on 31 March 1900. He was baptised with the name of Henry William Frederick Albert Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
